Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity as a Design Engineer located in the Lafayette, IN facility. In this role, you will be responsible for assignments that are project oriented and incorporates knowledge of current technology as well as an understanding of the entire design process. Primary responsibilities will deal with the creation of installation model and drawings which support product sales and applications in end customer applications.
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Capturing VOC / VOD / VOB (Voice of the … Customer / Dealer / Business) to help identify where existing services can be expanded or enhanced while reducing cost and improving flow of information.
Defining minimum viable product / service to be offered to business partners
Develop and utilize project management skills
Execute agreed upon plan of actions to achieve project objectives.
Verify product / service expectations are being delivered in a timely manner.
Create installation models, drawings and P&IDs for standard price list material and custom configurations
Support and maintain installation coverage of 95% or greater
Promote and facilitate work group efficiencies while reviewing current process for areas of improvements.
Basic Requirement:
Accredited 4 year Engineering degree or Engineering Technology degree.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in installation model and drawing creation
Minimum of 2 years of experience within Creo, Inventor, 3D Evolution
Minimum of 2 years of Caterpillar systems experience (TMI, EDDC, Teamcenter, Oasis, CSQ, Excel Ribbon Add-in)
Experience with VBA or VB, or Python programming language
Advanced Excel skills
Experience with modern reporting creation and data modeling (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, or Web Intelligence)
