Description
Caterpillar's Resource Industries Operations and Products division is currently seeking a Logistics Section Manager for its East Peoria, IL facility. In this role, you will lead and supervise a team of Logistics employees ensuring team safety through disciplined process execution, driving a zero-defect culture ensuring material received makes it to the point-of-use (POU) without damage, maximizing efficiency by ensuring parts are available at the POU when needed, and managing a lean cost structure.
Job Duties / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitors and improves shop floor safety, escalates unsafe packaging issues, and aggressively eliminates unsafe processes
- Assures team members follow processes to maximize material POU availability
- Assesses and prioritizes constrained resources, and adjusts staffing to meet customer requirements
- Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate
- Ensures Material Handling Equipment preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule; escalates when worn assets are causing production line down risks
- Assists in the implementation of and adherence to Lean Manufacturing, Internal Certification, and others
- Evaluates assesses, identifies and leads the development of workforce training
- Aggressively pursues continuous improvements throughout Supply Chain
- Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogues with Team Leads and Team Members
- Drives RCCA for issues caused by poor Logistics execution, material IRA issues, and damaged material received at the POU
- Leads the creation, implementation, and training of standard work procedures
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
- In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience working in Manufacturing or 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain or Logistics
- Basic knowledge of SAP Mach1
Top candidates will also have:
- Bachelors degree in Logistics or Supply Chain from an accredited college or university
- Deep expertise in SAP Mach1 with a focus on material transactions
- Prior supervisory experience in a Manufacturing/Supply Chain environment
- Good leadership, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and BIQ
